Bowling in Tameside & Longdendale / Safeguarding Officer
« Last post by BJ4609 on March 03, 2018, 05:50:10 PM »
Dear Colleagues please see the following message from Mike Holden reference the above.

At the BCGBA Management meeting 17th February the role of Safeguarding Officers were discussed.

As passed at the BCGBA Rules Revision Meeting all clubs must have a named safeguarding officer in place by 1st March 2019 who is DBS checked (Disclosure & Barring service) The DBS is non transferable from one service to another ie a DBS for Scouting can not be used for Bowls.
Will you remind all clubs that the completed DBS form is returned to David Williams , 6 Norwich Ave, Chadderton, OL9 0BA or Martin Goddard, 12 Joel Lane, Gee Cross, Hyde & then they will contact the person & arrange a meeting to formally sign the forms.

The named safeguarding officer is not required to have attended a safeguarding course but it is available & is recommended (£10 per course fee)
If any body wishes to attend a safeguarding course will they please contact Martin Goddard, 12 Joel Lane, Gee Cross, Hyde.
email : info@goddardandcompany.co.uk . 07711426003

The named safeguarding officer must have there contact details in plain view at the club they do not have to be in attendance at the club & can hold the position at various clubs.

There is no penalty for not having a safeguarding officer in place at present but BCGBA management will be looking at this again in February 2019 to see how this role has been carried out.

If anymore information becomes available David, Martin or myself will let you all know.

The next GM meeting will take place on 19th March at North Chadderton BC at 7-30

Regards

Mike Holden

County Secretary
